What is orthognathic surgery?
Orthognathic surgery is a surgical procedure that corrects dentocraniomaxillofacial deformities through maxillary and mandibular bone movements, achieving the perfect balance between all the patient's facial features.
These types of facial changes appear during the growth phase of patients, stabilize at the end of the period, and can cause problems such as sleep apnea, TMJ disorders, malocclusion, or skeletal disharmony, among others.

How do I know if I need orthognathic surgery?
These are the most common symptoms that indicate the possible need for orthognathic surgery:
Malocclusion: Incorrect alignment of the teeth when closing the mouth. It causes bite problems, prevents proper chewing, and affects oral health.
Difficulty closing the lips completely with ease.
Sleep apnea, or nighttime breathing difficulties. It causes loud snoring, pauses in breathing, dry mouth and headache upon waking, irritability, and poor concentration.
Facial pain or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, which affect the joints and muscles of chewing.
Unbalanced or unbalanced facial appearance, in profile or from the front.
Excessive dental wear.
Speech problems.
